Academic Scholarship andOrgan Donor Awareness
The Cody Jude Memorial Foundation was founded in 2013, shortly after the Cody's tragic death. The goal of the foundation is to keep Cody's fiery spirit alive in our community through the promotion of organ donor awareness and to raise money for a full scholarship at Scranton Preparatory School. The recipient will embody the spirit of Cody.
The Foundation has established a number of fundraising events in Northeast Pa to allow a full scholarship to be given out yearly at Scranton Prep and to offset the costs that many organ donor recipients face in their times of need. These events include The Cody Barrasse 3-On-3 Tournament held at Scranton Prep, and the Continue Cody’s Commitment Evening Event to Support Organ Donor Awareness. Organ Donor Funding and Assistance in NEPA
In Establishment of the Foundation, we have also partnered with Donate Life America to establish an event to raise funds and awareness touch a life changing cause. This evening event, “Continuing Cody’s Commitment” follows the 3 on 3 basketball Tournament. The monies raised from the event will be used to help defray the many expenses that families of patients waiting for transplantation face.

In honor of Cody’s fiery, competitive spirit, our annual 3v3 tournament is held at Scranton Prep’s Xavier Center. This year we have introduced a new division that now includes rising 5th and 6th grade Boys and Girls. Play will begin at 8 am with divisions and prices listed below. We will notify each team the day before the tournament with starting times.
- Middle School – Boy’s and Girl’s 5th and 6th Grade | $25
- Junior High – Boy’s and Girl’s 7th, 8th, 9th Grade | $25
- High School – Boy’s and Girl’s 10th, 11th, 12th Grade | $50
- Adult Competitive – Men and Women, HS Grad and Above | $75
- Adult Non-Competitive – Men and Women, HS Grad and Above | $75
Each team is guaranteed a free t-shirt, lunch, and at least 3 games!
Continue Cody’s Commitment is an event open to the public to celebrate the life of Cody Barrasse and support organ donation awareness in our community.
- This year’s event will be held at the Cultural Center in Scranton on North Washington Ave. from 7:30-11 pm. Free parking available.
- General Admission is $50/ticket and tournament participants/volunteers is $30/ticket.
- Event includes gourmet food from area restaurants, live music, open bar, and basket raffles.
- The monies raised go directly to the CJB OTAP to defray the costs that organ transplantation patients and families face.
